Use the confirmed calendar to choose dates. “Confirmed” means the organizer has published the season or date below; it does not mean every day has a performance or an available ticket. Hours and last-admission details that remain unannounced are marked plainly. All dated listings were last checked October 9, 2026.

Confirmed Christmas & winter listings.
Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting
December 2, 2026. Tree arrival is November 7. The lighting date is published; ceremony time, visitor access/security arrangements, daily illumination hours and the final removal date are not yet confirmed here.
Cost: no special ceremony ticket or premium access product is being recommended in this guide. Check the official access announcement. Public tree viewing and a paid observation-deck ticket are different decisions.
Before going: confirm public entry routes and crowd restrictions. Our morning photo walk does not promise a lit tree outside the eventual official illumination hours.

Bryant Park Holiday Shops
October 28, 2026–January 3, 2027. Opening day begins at noon. Regular hours: Monday–Friday 11am–8pm; Saturday–Sunday 10am–8pm. Specific 2026 Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve exceptions are not yet verified.
Cost: free entry; purchases extra. Browse without buying. Do not treat last season’s Christmas Day hours on a separate page as this season’s schedule.
Plan: combine a short market browse with the library exterior or Grand Central; select an open seated café for a proper warm-up.

Bryant Park skating
October 28, 2026–February 28, 2027. Regular published rink hours are 8am–10pm, extended to 8am–midnight November 19–January 3. January 31 closes at 8pm. Opening day begins at noon. The rink is advertised daily, including holidays, subject to weather and the actual reservation calendar.
Cost: skating admission is free. Reserve a session even with your own skates. Rentals, storage and optional extras are additional; the source page mixes season labels in some price details, so we are not treating its displayed rental range as a confirmed 2026 quote. Check the complete cart, including tax and mandatory fees.
Rules: no bags, phones or cameras on the ice. A session is approximately 70 minutes total, with about 50 minutes skating under the current published policy. Confirm this and the own-skate one-week release policy when choosing your 2026 slot. Weather can close the rink.
Official sources: Bryant · Park Access · Last checked October 9, 2026.
The Rink at Rockefeller Center
Opens October 10, 2026. The closing date and seasonal hours are still to be announced. For dates after opening, the filter offers this as a potential option; confirm your actual date on the booking calendar.
Cost: date-dependent admission. Rental skates, package inclusions and checkout fees must be compared for the exact session. A “from” price is not the cost of your holiday slot.
Before booking: confirm session duration, entry time, skate rental, storage, weather/cancellation rules and access needs. Do not assume a rink ticket includes a show or observation deck.

Wollman Rink in Central Park
October 28, 2026–March 16, 2027. Daily operations have varying hours; use the dated skating calendar for sessions and last entry.
Posted prices, tax included: adults ages 13–64: $16 off-peak / $28 peak / $40 prime. Children ages 4–12: $12; under 4 free; adults 65+: $12. Rental skates $12; locker $8; skate aid $25. Possible online booking charges are not verified here.
Group example: two adults and two children ages 6 and 10, each renting skates: $104 off-peak, $128 peak or $152 prime, before any unverified booking charge or lockers. That is admission plus four rentals, not a hotel or meal budget.
Rules: waiver required for every visitor, no re-entry, and under-16s need a chaperone age 21+. Strollers are permitted; oversized luggage is not. Confirm non-skating companion admission directly. The posted WRAP reduced-cost program requires qualifying physical ID; confirm 2026 availability before relying on it.

Christmas Spectacular: Radio City Rockettes
Plan your Rockettes night: ticket options and arrival tips →
November 4, 2026–January 4, 2027. Tickets are on sale. Use the official performance calendar for actual show dates and times, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Cost: depends on date, seat and checkout charges. No single “holiday ticket price” is quoted. Compare the final total for every person; verify age/lap-child rules rather than assuming young children are free.
Entry: doors open one hour before showtime; the venue asks for arrival at least 30 minutes before. Tickets are digital; download them ahead. Free stroller check is offered, but luggage storage is not. Bags larger than 22 × 14 × 9 inches are prohibited; professional cameras, tripods and selfie sticks are restricted. Check the full visitor FAQ.
Accessible booking options and seating are available through the venue’s stated process. Confirm the exact entrance and seat requirements before purchase.

NYCB: George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker
Regular performances November 27, 2026–January 2, 2027. A separate sensory-friendly performance is announced for January 3, 2027 at 1pm. The January 3 date is not an extension of the regular calendar.
Cost: seat/date dependent, with fees; check the official calendar. Every audience member, including a lap child, requires a ticket. NYCB recommends ages five and older. Approximate running time is two hours; review the production’s own guidance for your group.
Rules: purchases are final, and late arrival/re-entry restrictions apply. Plan a restroom and food break before entry. Sensory-friendly tickets and supports follow the separate official listing.

NYBG Holiday Train Show
November 14, 2026–January 10, 2027. Member preview: November 13. Confirm general visiting hours, entry slots and last admission in the official dated ticket calendar.
Verified closure check: NYBG’s December 2026 calendar lists November 30 and December 7, 14, 21, 25 and 28 as closed. Recheck the official calendar for other dates and special hours; a season window is not a daily opening promise.
Cost: 2026 date-specific prices and mandatory checkout charges were not verified in this research snapshot. We are not substituting last year’s prices.
Sensory-friendly mornings: November 21, 2026 and January 9, 2027, 9–11am, under the official reduced-sound program. Confirm the appropriate ticket and access instructions. The exhibit’s rules and conservatory route matter more than the general garden opening hours.
Transport: Metro-North’s Harlem local line to Botanical Garden station serves the nearby Mosholu entrance. Select a train that actually stops there and price the ticket in TrainTime; add the garden walk and a buffer to the rail ride.

Bronx Zoo Holiday Lights
Select dates only: November 21–22 and 27–29; December 3–6, 10–13, 17–23 and 26–31; January 2–3. No December 24, December 25 or January 1 event. December 3 is the announced sensory-friendly night.

These are admission subtotals; unverified tax/checkout charges may be additional. Any-Night tickets have different prices and conditions.
Booking: special advance online tickets are required, including for members; no event tickets sold at the gate. The 2026 ticket offers daytime arrival from 1pm, but lights are not illuminated at 1pm. Confirm your lights-entry time, closing time and last admission on the actual ticket. Animal exhibits and the lights event operate differently.
Entry: Bronx River Gate and Southern Boulevard are the nighttime entrances; Asia/Fordham Road gates are closed for the event. Parking is posted at $22, first come, with tolls/fuel extra. Review refund and weather policies before paying.

Official ticket-calendar check, October 9: ordinary Lightscape entries are offered November 20–22, 25 and 27–29; December 3–6, 9–13, 16–24 and 26–31; January 1–3. No December 25 entry is offered. Times Square Wishing Wall
The official page currently lists December 1–29, except December 25, 11am–8pm, and identifies digital submissions for the December 31, 2026 celebration. Confirm the current mobile-wall plaza location before going.
Participation is free. This daytime/early-evening stop is separate from entering New Year’s Eve viewing pens. Keep it short and give pedestrian traffic room.
Official sources: Wishes · Last checked October 9, 2026.
Times Square New Year’s Eve webcast
The organizer’s current webcast page says free streams begin 6pm December 31. The accessible stream with open captions and ASL will be linked in December 2026; that link is not yet available here.
A hotel/home countdown avoids treating outdoor viewing pens as the only celebration. Recheck the official webcast page near the date. No street-entry or re-entry rule is implied by the webcast information.

Which skating plan is worth the cost?
Your own skates change the decision
Bryant Park’s free skating admission can be genuinely useful if you own skates and can reserve an appropriate session. Renters must compare the full cart, not the word “free.” For anyone who does not want to skate, watching from a public path keeps the outing free.
Photo note: stay off the ice with cameras and leave rink entrances clear. A daytime rink-edge image is our suggested alternative to a congested evening.
A warm-looking photo is not an inclusion
Igloo packages, drinks, skating and reserved seating are separate products unless the selected package explicitly includes them. Check capacity, accessible seating, session duration and cancellation rules. The photograph shows an earlier season; current package availability is not guaranteed.
Photo note: do not photograph inside a paid reserved space without permission. The public park paths provide an alternative view.
Compare rink subtotals and free alternatives before choosing. Our guide does not recommend an attraction pass for ice skating.
No recycled schedules
Unannounced or not yet verified for 2026.
This is a watchlist, not a confirmed event calendar. Do not build a nonrefundable trip around these details until the organizer publishes the current season.

| Columbus Circle Holiday Market | 2026 dates/hours remain unannounced in the organizer information checked. | Check the organizer’s page; use nearby Central Park as a separate year-round outing. |
| Saks / Fifth Avenue holiday windows and light show | No confirmed 2026 installation calendar or showtimes in this guide. | Check the store’s own seasonal announcement before promising a show. |
| Grand Central Holiday Fair | No verified 2026 fair dates here. | Check Grand Central’s current visitor/event information; the architecture is a separate stop. |
| Dyker Heights residential lights | No single official opening date, house schedule or guarantee of individual displays. | Confirm current displays shortly before the trip and respect private property. |

Long Island lights are beyond NYC and require their own current venue research. The Long Island hub and family guide are planning resources, not proof of a confirmed Christmas event.
The dates that need a different plan.
December 24–25
On Christmas Eve, do the most important stop early and keep evening plans simple. Holiday retail and restaurant hours may differ. On Christmas Day, the Met and AMNH are closed; Bronx Holiday Lights has no listing either night. Bryant’s rink is advertised daily including holidays, but confirm the slot, weather and rental total.
For December 25, a short outdoor route plus a confirmed meal is more robust than a three-museum plan. Identify an actual open warm-up and restroom before leaving the hotel. NYBG is closed December 25; Lightscape offers no entry that date. Check actual showtimes separately.
Official sources: Met · Amnh · Zoo · Bryant · Last checked October 9, 2026.
December 31–January 1
Do not casually route a family through the Times Square viewing zone. We have not verified the 2026 entry, security, bathroom or re-entry plan. Stay outside the zone for an early meal or an in-hotel countdown unless attending is your main goal.
On January 1, the Met is closed and Bronx lights has no event. Check every other venue’s holiday calendar. Winter walks remain weather-dependent; cafés and shops may open late or close.

After Christmas, choose by the end date
December 26–30 has more confirmed seasonal options than January 5–10. From January 5, this calendar supports NYBG and skating, while Rockettes and Bryant shops have ended. From January 11, use winter museums, parks and rinks; do not assume Christmas displays remain. Rockefeller’s final tree date is still unannounced.
Use the post-Christmas and January routes and recheck the dated sources the day before.
Access and sensory planning are part of booking.
Choose the environment first, then the ticket. A long outdoor zoo walk, a rink, a dark theater and an indoor train exhibit have different physical and sensory demands. Ask about accessible entrances, seating, companion admission, restroom access and permitted assistive equipment before paying.
- NYBG: announced sensory-friendly mornings November 21 and January 9, 9–11am. Review ticket and access guidance.
- Bronx Zoo: announced sensory-friendly Holiday Lights night December 3. Confirm the program’s modifications and exact entry time.
- NYCB: separate January 3 sensory-friendly Nutcracker at 1pm, with its own listing and ticket conditions.
- Radio City: use the venue’s accessible-ticket process and current entrance information.
- Transit: check the exact station’s elevator status, not just whether the line has an accessible station elsewhere.
Photo note: Lincoln Center’s plaza is a location reference. Take exterior pictures from an unobstructed public area; performance photography follows the production’s rules.
